Im a guy and I'm sixteen almost seventeen and I was wandering if it is wrong to date a seventh grade girl? I like her and she likes me. I don't plan on taking advantage of her.

Yes... unless of course you like being the laughing stock of the other kids your age. And trust me they WILL pick on you if you even think about a girl that young.

There is a huge difference in the maturity level between you and her... and besides, I am certain her parents are going to have something to say about it... and you can be certain they won't be good or nice things because she is WAY too young to be dating.

And its not if you try to tell us that you won't try to take advantage of her... fact is at some point you will. You are a guy... guys get raging hormones... guys do what guys do and then you find yourself registered as a sex offender because a girl that young can not legally consent which makes it rape legally.

I'm a guy... so I know how young guys think, I was once one. I know the excuses they make... and how they pretend their motives are different than they really are. And even more... I still remember everything very vividly.

Do yourself a huge favor... and look for girls your own age for all of those reasons. Some mistakes will follow you for life. Don't let that be one of them.

I have to agree. It's not that the difference in years is such a big deal, it's that at the ages you two are, those few years difference represent a tremendous gulf in maturity. At thirteen, she is still essentially a kid. Maybe it would help to think about the differences in yourself between seventh grade and being 16/17. My guess is you are probably very different.

Her parents will have to be OK with it. And yours as far as that goes right now.

Except for the basic problem the average 7th grader is only 12/13 years old... and no respsponsible parents is going to want a 17 year old messing around with her. And at 16/17 that puts him firmly in the 11th grade.
