If you read the bottle it says "weekly dose." That means one per week.

If you have a problem understanding the label, post again and I'll explain it.

Fosavance IS Vitamin D - it's cholecalciferol (vitamin D) and alendronate, combined. It's used for men and women to treat osteoporosis medication that contains alendronate and cholecalciferol and increases bone density.

You can actually overdose on it - it is NOT recommended that you take additional Vitamin D when you are taking Fosavance. It's also a once-a-week medication.

If your bone density test indicates you need additional Vitamin D I'm sure your physician will order/prescribe it. In the meantime it's dangerous and foolish to give medical advice on the Internet. I would never second guess a Physician who is familiar with your condition.

Isn't this info on the insert that came with the Fosavance or on the label?

Are you also aware of the manufacturer's warnings: "The tablet should be taken first thing in the morning when you get up, and at least half an hour before you take your first meal, beverage, or other medication of the day. To reduce the risk of irritating the throat or esophagus, take the tablet with a full glass (250 mL) of plain water only. If your normal drinking water is classified as "hard water," it may decrease the absorption of this medication and you should consider taking it with distilled water.

After swallowing, do not lie down until 30 minutes have passed and you have eaten your first meal of the day. Do not take this medication at bedtime or before getting up in the morning. Swallow the tablets whole. Do not chew or suck on the tablets."
