Hi,
I'm 26yo,and I fear for the baby I'm carrying.
I'm an alcoholic and a chain smoker, but I haven't had any drink for the last 5 months,I think,my main concern is my smoking because I haven't stopped smoking up until now, although I've tried really hard but because of stress at work and other personal problems,I couldn't quit the habit no matter how hard I try.what I fear the most is that I've read online that my baby might have birth defects because of my smoking,is there any way for me stop that from happening,is there any vitamins or medicines I could take to revert the effects of smoking?
Please do help

Godbless

Yes it is possible, so your concern about harming the baby is not enough to stop smoking, your stress is more important than the babies health ( is that what you are saying)

What about when baby is born, you can't or should not smoke around baby ?

If there is a birth defect, are you so stressed now , how will you handle that. If the baby for example has to be in diapers and will never mentally progress for the rest of the child's life, so in 18 years you will be changing your child's diapers. Now think stress. Think no going out but having to be at home almost 24/7 if not at work.

Time to put yourself second and baby first, stop today.

There is no magic cure for what will happen to your baby if you don't stop smoking. No vitamins, no medicines... You can't quit because of stress? So you decided to carry a baby but just can't find it in yourself to quit smoking... sad. Don't bother telling me I don't know how hard it is to quit smoking because I did it cold turkey back in 2004. I decided to quit and I did. You have a better reason to quit but, eh, who cares... it's just a baby.
