I've been dating a guy for 11 months and we've had out ups & downs and I have maybe been a bit needy as I wanted to see him more than 2/3 times a week. We argued on Tuesday but made up then Wednesday he ended it out of the blue and he mentioned his parents hate me ( even though I have never met them & they don't know me ) he came and told me to my face it was over and when I tried to contact him his phone would be switched off. We then had a bit of conversation through text last night and he said he just didn't know what to do about us, he needs alone time not to find anyone else just to concentrate on him and maybe there is hope of us working out... Then today agreed to come on Sunday to discuss things but he didn't say it was to sort out the relationship. How should I read between the lines? What is he really thinking? Because why agree to come when he'd already ended it to my face a few days ago?

Ok I dated someone that was perfectly content seeing me once a week, twice if lucky. I have a full time career, close friendships, acquaintances and family nearby and that was not enough for me either. I don't think it's needy to want to spend a decent amount of time with your boyfriend. If you depend on your boyfriend to fulfill all your wants/desires and be your sole source of entertainment then I would definitely classify that as needy.

The point is you two have different relationship styles and it will never work. I tried my hardest to accept it and at the end of the day I felt a longing for something more.

Besides he broke up with you. Go silent and give him all the alone time in the world. If he reaches out tell him that you two broke up and you have no interest in communicating. I wouldn't hold your breath on him returning.
