My 8 year old dog just got diagnosed with Addison's disease. The vet is talkng about pills and injections that would have to be part of my dog's life forever. Is going through all the treatment worth it and about how much would I be looking to spend? Would my dog be her normal self again if treated? Or should I consider putting her to sleep? If you have had an experience with this disease, please let me know.

Addisons is not a death sentence for your pet. I'm not sure what your vet is planning but our clients who have Addisonian dogs maintain well on Prednisone and Florinef (both which you can get at the pharmacy for cheap). The expenses come to maintaining a proper dose - there's usually a fair amount of bloodwork done regularly at the beginning.
We do have one client using an injection (Percorten) for their dog. She maintains well but the injection itself is expensive.
Most Addison's dogs live relatively normal lives, and the owners just have to get used to regular pilling. You should ask your vet for an estimate on costs. It varies so much depending on area (and clinic!) that I couldn't give you an accurate $$ number.
