I am a 21 year old male and every time I have sex or there is semen exposed, I get super worried that someone could get pregnant. Messed up, right?

My girlfriend get's fed up of me being so paranoid about her being pregnant. We use Durex condoms and I still get paranoid that she's pregnant even WITH protection. I'm starting to lose my mind over stuff like this, really irritating because sex should be enjoyable.

Well, I guess my questions are this:

1) Can someone get pregnant from semen in bath water?
2) Can someone get pregnant from semen on the toilet seat?
3) Can someone get pregnant from semen on a wet or dry towel?
4) If there were traces of semen on my finger, could someone get pregnant from fingering?
4) Am I being over-paranoid for no reason?

Seriously are you really 21?
Have you ever done Basic sex ed in school.

You are being overly paranoid for no reason.

I hate to disagree with Ben. Love you Ben!

1) Can someone get pregnant from semen in bath water? No
2) Can someone get pregnant from semen on the toilet seat? No
3) Can someone get pregnant from semen on a wet or dry towel? No
4) If there were traces of semen on my finger, could someone get pregnant from fingering? Unlikely, but biologically possible.
4) Am I being over-paranoid for no reason? Yes and No

The fact is, any time you have sex, even with protection, pregnancy is possible. Condoms aren't 100%. You could use three different forms of birth control and a pregnancy can still occur.

Bottom line, if you're not ready to be a father, you shouldn't be having sex.

Thanks for the replies. I imagine a lot of silly questions about pregnancy pop up on here a lot, you got to understand I worry about every little thing, not just this. This is just another thing to worry about I guess. Heh...

Thanks again.

Condoms have a pretty high failure rate. It isn't something easy to keep stats on, but I see about 25 - 29% failure on many sites, probably based on clinic reports of what birth control was used when a woman comes in for pregnancy care. What does that mean? It means that every time you have sex, you have about a 1 in 4 chance of the condom not working for some reason. Although the odds don't change if you have sex once or a thousand times, the chances that probability will put you in the 75% group instead of the 25% group become more possible. And if you do get pregnant, you are not 25% pregnant, nor are you 75% pregnant, you are 100% pregnant. So yes, it is good to be paranoid, but for this reason, not yours.

We do get many silly questions here, but if it's something you're unsure of, and don't want to rely on the internet (ha, I guess we are the internet), then this is the place to ask those questions.

I'm reminded of something my English teacher once said. There are no silly questions, only silly answers. So, if you're unsure, no matter how silly you may feel to ask, ask. That's how you learn, and how you grow.
