I have recently been placed on supervised PBJ in the state of Maryland for theft under $1000 from a department store. I live in Delaware so this is an interstate case. I have not met with my probation officer yet because when I went through intake I was told to not show up on the check in date and to just call and see if there was anything special that my probation officer wanted me to do. After leaving about 5 voicemails I finally received a return phone call from my probation officer. She told me that she wants me to come in on one of her check in days before the month is over so she can meet me and go over my case and after that I wouldn't be required to check in anymore. My question is that on the probation order in the special conditions section the judge did not check off that I have to submit to alcohol and drug testing as directed by my supervisor. The only special conditons that are marked are to pay all fines and restitution and to not be found near any locations of the department store. So will I have to submit to any drug testing at all? Sounds to me like I won't be considering she told me that I wouldn't have to come back in to check in since I'm living in a different state. Just wanted to hear some input from someone who may know more about how this works.
