I'm getting a wire transfer from US (BoA) to Canada (ING) and it was sent on Wednesday (debited from senders account) but by Friday I don't see it in my account. I called my bank, however, their operations department is closed until Tuesday (Mon is a holiday here)
Does anyone know if international transfers really do take 3-5 days?

Well it was sent Tuesday around 11PM, debited from senders account on Wed, so that's still Thur and Fri as business days and it's not showing up in my account but it wasn't sent back to the sender. I read online that it can takes 3-5 business days for the money to SHOW UP in receivers bank account

Since you do it often, what does it mean if it's not showing up in receivers account in 3 days? Wouldn't it be already sent back when all the info is correct?

Some inter bank transfers, ( this will depend on banks, I almost always use banks that have connections to each other) But first it should show out of the other persons account the minute it was transferred. I mean on my online account, the minute I pay something electronicly it is shown debited. I did a money currency purchase yesterday, and a wire transfer a few days ago, the min I had the transfer done the money disappeard from my account. Bank of America has fairly instant withdrawal shown. *** not may bank but know of them,
The issue with received is the banks relationship and if transfer is to be in US funds to be withdrawn in US funds, or if it is done at standard conversion rates.
But some banks will put a hold on the funds, so on those, they may not show up, till funds are released. But many banks are not doing holds.
It does appear that BOA has a limit of about 2000 dollars (US) for next day service, I don't do large amounts normally under 1000. So larger amounts have a 3 day ( business day) process and them most likely one day at your receiving bank

In my case it's about 3500, so it's been two business days now but money was depited from boa and it wasn't sent back as rejected.. so my bank is probably holding it/didnt process it. I guess I have to wait until Tuesday and call operations department
