Are you wanting to use the light to feed the ceiling fan or are you looking to replace the light with a fan? Also do you know if power comes from the switch then goes to the light, or does the feed go to the fixture and a switch leg was run?

The current overhead light is not in the center of the room and I don't use it as it causes glare on the flatscreen anyway. So I plan to use the power from the current light to power the new ceiling fan/light combo I will install and then the wall switch would turn on the fan/light and the original light would just not have any power to it and that's OK as the ceiling fan will have a light anyway.

I'm not sure about if the power comes from the switch or the current light.

I plan to use the power from the current overhead light to power the new ceiling fan/light combo I will install as the current light is not in the center of the room and causes glare on the flatscreen so I don't use it anyway. So then the wall switch for the current light should operate the new fan/light. (there's actually two wall switches that both turn the current light on/off so it's a 3-way).

I also plan to get a ceiling fan/light combo that also has a remote.

I'm not sure if the power comes from the current light or the wall switch.

Knowing all this, is there anything else I need to do other than just move the wiring from the current light to the new fan? And if the wiring is not long enough what's the best way to extend it?
