Can anyone narrow this problem down for me on a home a/c problem.. A/C comes on, everything works but fan does not turn outside.. Changed run capacitor. It ran good for one day and then it started to do the same thing again. It's a Lennox about 12 years old.. I added a start capacitor about 3 years ago to help the load. Could it be the fan motor, or change out the start capacitor again?

Thanks anybody

If it was me I would test the capacitor before replacing it. Now I also understand that you might not have the proper meter to test the capacitor so your next step is to roll the dice. You can buy another capacitor and try it BUT with the unit being that old the original motor is probably tired and needs to be replaced. Getting the exact motor for replacement is very important. Voltage/RPM/CW or CCW rotation and HP all need to be taken into consideration in order to get a motor that will work well in your system. Whatever you do make sure you get A NEW capacitor to match the requirements of the new motor. So many times I have seen the motor replaced and the old capacitor used and problems happen from that combination.

Think I will replace the fan motor.. I understand on the run capacitor... I got the original one (Lennox 45/5 /370v Dual ), that good to go, only 4 days old... motor should be 208/230v 1ph.. But I will double check again...
Sir I appreciate the advise, and I thank you.. Will let you know how it turns out..

Thanks again
