The tops of my feet hurt and so does the left side of my foot they also swell on top of them

This is the sort of condition that can't be taken out of context - you age, gender, weight, activity, blood pressure, general health, smoking - the list goes on.
I too have swelling, and it's edema, and I'm 65, with all the women in my family having swelling. We keep our feet up when we can, avoid too much salt, and so on. Unless you have PAD/PVD (vascular conditions of the legs that make pumping blood back up difficult or clots) then you just live with it and try to take care of yourself. Pain would be pretty severe and often one leg is more swollen than the other.
Have it looked at when you have your next checkup if it's not severe.
