I am having trouble with my GT235 riding mower. It will not stay running when throttle is increased without the choke on. I recently replaced the fuel pump because it seems to be starving for fuel when throttle is increased. It will idle fine and runs good as long as choke is about 1/2 on. Fuel filter only seems to have a small amount of fuel in it, approximately 1/5th of its capability.

Hi,
That model had Briggs Vanguard engines on the earlier model and Kawasaki engines on the later models. Both were V-twin OHV engines. I will guess you have the Kawasaki engine since the first ones had ignition modules that would fail in just the way you describe. It has gone through a number of number changes and is now #MIA11064. Got so I would replace both when a problem surfaced since I knew the other would fail also.
Peace,
Clarke
