My new husband is a convicted felon (manslaughter). He is a great husband, great provider, and excellent father to my children and his children from a previous marriage. Will his criminal record have an affect on the custody battle that I have had to endure with my son's father. Things have been pretty smooth for almost a year but I'm sure he will have me back in court soon. What should I expect in the great state of Louisiana?

I don't think the State will matter much. If your "ex" wants to bring up the topic of you living with a person who has a manslaughter conviction in his past, he will BUT your answer is people make mistakes, his past is his past, he's been out of trouble for X years, he's a great husband (I don't know that great provider matters when it comes to personal attributes, but I get your point), excellent father. Some of this, of course, will depend on how long you've known him, how long you've been married.

If your "ex" wants to dredge up your husband's past the best thing you can is be prepared. I trust you have an excellent Attorney - ?
