I have a standard DirectTV DVR that only has S-Video and Composite plugs(Yelow - Red - White) on the back; no DVI or HDMI sockets, or Component (Red-Gree-Blue). I connected the S-Video and the Red, and White audio cables to the back of an older Sampo plasma TV, but I only get the video and no sound. The TV has connectors for DVI, Component, in addition to the ones for the Composite. A DirectTV Technician took a look and gave up, because he had never seen/heard of Sampo TVs. I could ask DirectTV to send a DVR w/ an HDMI, but it is going to cost my $200 for the new box, plus S&H, and so would a Composite-to-DVI converter box. Any help out there?

Verify the Red and white on TV is IN, not an output. Check Mutes(TV and Receiver), and go through each of the sources and look for sound.
