I have been dipping skoal for 5 months now, and I am still not addicted. I buy a new tin every other day and what I get varies from mint or wintergreen pouches to peach, citrus, berry blend, apple blend, or cherry long cut. Oh, and I've also started smoking recently. I smoke Marlboro red 100s, so far only 1 pack. How is it possible that through all that, a nicotine addiction hasn't formed?

Can you stop dipping and smoking?

How do you know there is no addiction?

I know there is no addiction because since I quit my job recently I have little money (im 18 and about to start college). As a result, I stopped for 3 weeks. I only started up again because my friends are willing to share their dip, so I don't have to buy a tin for $7. Now you might say they are enabling me, but I choose to dip, not because physical I need to, but ecause I want to. Also, I don't get the "nicotine high". Basically I can dip a can a day and feel nothing (and I have done that once before). Now my friends on the other hand ARE addicted because they need to have dip, and they physically crave it. They share with me because being 18, I can buy it and they cannot, being 16.

Hm, why are you breaking the law and also enabling your friends to be addicted?

No there is an addiction, the longer you use, and the more you use, the stronger it gets.

Some people can stop better than others, why did you start back, it wastes money and is bad for your health,

Its not breaking the law. The law states that you must be a certain age to buy tobacco products or alcoholic products (depending on where you live). The law does not say that no person under the age can use it. At 13, some can be caught smoking by a cop, and the most the cop can do is take away the pack of cigarettes. But the kid won't get in trouble (except from his/her parents). And as far as enabling them, they've been dipping longer than me. They have been dipping for at least 2 years, and I had not heard about it until the beginning of this year.

As I already stated, I started back up because since I buy for my friends (they give me the money) they share their dip with me. So I basically spend like $1 instead of $7

Oh, well, it must be okay then, ha ha.

Actually, what you are doing is immoral, if not illegal.

"...Now you might say they are enabling me, but i choose to dip, not because physical i need to, but ecause i want to. ..."

Of course you are addicted. You just call it by another term-- "want". Why do you suppose you "want to" ?

But, if you have convinced yourself that you are not addicted, now is a the time to quit. You just may have the right mindset to do it. Good luck.
