My mother in law has the most sever forms of joint and skin lupus. She had her 1st major out break in 2004 she is has been on dyalisis since 2007. She was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver about a yr ago and her abdomen is full of fluid (she looks very pregnant) the dr did blood work to see if she could have the TIPS procedure done and they said no she is on the high side of the high risk scale. She also can't have a transplant because of the risk of the lupus attacking it again. She was on the kidney transplant list n they took her off because of that. So my question is are their other options for her to help save her liver?

Sorry, I have to say this, but with lupus and cirrhosis, not much chance of any options. We don't diagnose here but your question was one I really should answer. Her doctor is correct and that is the only opinion you should have.

How fast does the liver harden? Or is everyone different?

How long can someone live with cirrhosis of the liver?

I can't honestly tell you that; I know there are juice cleanses that may delay the hardening, but when all is said and done, it is not a cure.
