I just started exercising at a gym which I go to every other day. I know that you have to exercise for thirty minutes before you start to burn fat, what I need to know is if I start on the recumbent bike for thirty minutes and do thirty minutes on the elliptical, is that a good thing?
The recumbent bike is very easy for me and it hardly seems like I'm working but I can keep my heart rate above 135 for thirty minutes without much difficulty. On the elliptical my heart rates goes up very fast and it's harder for me to maintain a high intensity workout for longer periods.
I also do some weight training every other day, after I get off the bikes, like leg lifts, arm presses, ab work, basically whatever machine is available when I get off one, something like circuit training. Does this sound like a good workout plan to lose weight? I seem to average burning about 3000 calories a week this way.
Another question I have is about sleeping. I work an overnight shift and have a hard time sleeping more than three to four hours at a time during the week. On the weekends I can sleep pretty much normally. Will this affect my weight loss and if so what can I do to offset the lack of sleep? I don't really feel especially tired, but I worry that this may be a problem as sleep is very important, and before I started working out I was tired all the time.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
