We started feeding her but didn't take her inside because we have a cat and 2 dogs inside and didn't know if she was healthy. In the meantime she got pregnant and just had the kittens 4 days ago. We did bring them in because of the heat. Three of them lived, 2 died. They all seem to be doing well so far but the momma is still very bony around her hips and back. She eats very well, why isn't she gaining any weight? She seems very healthy otherwise and she is the most loving cat I have ever seen. We want to have her spayed as soon as we can but it may be a while before that happens as money is tight for now. We are just concerned about her being so bony. Any suggestions?

My son's rescued cat is long haired and stocky, probably part Maine Coon, whereas my deceased soulcat was bony and skinny and probably part Siamese.

Be sure to give her good quality cat food (dry and canned?) and always fresh water. She may fill out (having babies takes a lot out of a mom), or maybe is just one of those bony cats.

Is she inside now?

When our cat had her kittens she remained very bony and skinny. The advice we got was that it takes a lot for a mother cat to produce milk, kitten food has more calories or protein or something. Anyway that's what we were told to feed her. She gained a little weight but after the kittens were weaned is when she gained the rest back

I would pop her to the vet and get her dewormed.
