My girlfriend and I were together for just over a year. We're both juniors in college and are focused on our careers as much as we are focused on our relationship. We both were deeply in love with each other and had the most fun and loving relationship. We had at times talked about our future after college, but with her mom moving to 1100 miles away and the rest of her family wanting to move as well I became skeptical that we would work out once she graduated and went to med school.
At times I was a bit jealous because 90% of her friends are douchebag frat stars (she was the most loyal person ever so I know she would have never done anything) but it still bothered me that she partied with them often. We both go to school two hours away but we always visited one another every couple weeks so the distance really wasn't a major influence in the break up. I treated her like a queen and gave her everything and just wanted her to be happy.
Three weeks ago she said that she needed some space so I respected that and let her be for a couple weeks with "no contact" unless she contacted me first (trust me it works). We got back together and I felt like everything was fine until 3 days ago when she said she needed some space again. Well today she officially ended it and I am absolutely devastated. She was the world to me and I thought we were going to be together for a very long time. I know I should just not think about the possibility of getting back together and just move on, but it's incredibly difficult when you love someone as much as I loved her. She said we just weren't working anymore and she still wants to be friends and that she'll always love me and be there for me. Sounds so cliché but I told her the same. She goes back to school in two weeks and I really just feel like crap and am a little lost because I still am in love with her. It wasn't a bad breakup and during the talk we had when it happened we laughed and talked about all the great times we've gad the past year. But I just love her so much and it's been extremely rough the past 12 hours.
Sorry this is so long haha advice?
