I'm dying to watch this film I hadn't seen in years, it's a disaster film, something about the heat which is very bad and starts killing people and I remember birds flying into the window, there was a big fire in a tunnel and a woman and her son with a dog run into a tiny room just in time before the fire hits them, I want to watch this so bad, any ideas, thanks

My son says it's definitely Independence Day. The woman is Will Smith's movie girlfriend Jasmine with their son and dog. The heat is some kind of alien ray.
