Would it be a "safe" and good idea for my husband to give up his parental rights to his children?

This is the situation: unfortunately, my husband and his ex had an altercation. His ex assaulted him, she threatened my life, she attacked my husband he protected himself; she clawed at him marked him up pretty bad, knee in the private area, he bit her to get her off him ( I know, a tyson move) and she laughed stating that the bite was her ticket and she is going to suck him dry. We called the police, etc. now she has filed a protective order against him and included his children in it (ages 9 and 14). We went to court and she coached her daughter(age 14) to lie on her father, my husband sayig that he initiated the altercation. His daughter put this in writing and was willing to get on the witness stand and lie possibly sending her father to jail for 6mos to a year. I told my husband if his "biological" daughter was willing to lie on him (regardless if her mother is an evil bully) she still lied on him. And may lie later again in a hypothetical: saying you touch her inappropriately or plant some drugs on you/me anything is possible and I really do not want her/them in my home when he gets "possible" visitation rights again. These kids are dangerous.

He pays child support for the children and wants to continue to interact in their lives. However, how can I advise my husband to be safe and protect himself since the children's mother has stated that she is not finshed with him yet.
I have decided I don't want anything to do with them and refuse to be present when they come to visit. So every other week I will be at a friends house or my parents when his kids come to visit.

Would it be in his best intert to cut his losses and move on with his life?
