I received a summons to appear in court for back condo assn fees. I do agree that I owe them and I've contacted the atty for the condo assn and the atty has refused ALL of my proposals for repayment with no counter-proposals nor any guidance as to what is acceptable to the association. After my final attempt to settle, the atty told me that either I pay all of the fees, plus late fees, atty fees, and court fees or face eviction. Now I have a court date and the atty says at the court date, they will request a 45 day continuance to 'help me' come out with whatever balance they concoct. I know I owe them $2900 in condo assn fees & late fees, but if they'd just waive the late fees, I can try to come up with $2000 of it. I don't really have the $, but I know I owe it, so I wanted to at least try. If they keep tacking on fees and won't settle, it'll be harder for them to receive payment. What can I do?

I should note that actually I didn't receive the summons. I've been out of town, so I haven't been served. I just heard about the court date from the atty and a friend of the atty.

It's a condo. You own it. You can't be evicted. The worst that will happen is that you'll lose in court and they'll put a lien on your condo.. That means you can't SELL it without paying them off...

Relax.. Have a beer.
