My cat is giving birth. She seems to have been in labor over night. I see a tail and a foot and fecal mater. Is it normal for a kitten to be delivered in this manner?

It's called a breech (rear-end first) delivery and not normal. Is the kitten out yet?

Hope all went well. Animals are tough.

Yes. She has delivered 2 now. Both are living and eating. The second came head first. I had to help her by pulling the tail and foot of the first. She seems to be having trouble with the deliveries. Once they are delivered, she is taking good care of them. She cleaned the sack away from the head of the second kitten while the rest of the body was still in. She seemed to be very uncomfortable, but to tired to push the rest of the way. I helped her by gently pulling the second one out and she seemed grateful and began cleaning it quickly.

Well... I was up several times during the night and both kittens were doing fabulously. The breech kitten was latched on continuosly. This morning when I got up, he was laying aside cold and wincing. I picked him up and held him to warm him up. He appears to be struggling to breath. I have massaged him and held him for a while. I put him back in with his momma, but I don't think he is going to make it. :(
The other one seems to be doing OK for now.
