It has a p-trap, then a 10' pipe off that with a cap. Can the studor vent be installed in this 10' run and if so where, and how from the trap? Thanks, Lauren

Well, the first problem was a clogged kitchen drain. It was the only plumbing not updated in our older house. They couldn't get near it to fix so they tapped into the main line and ran new. This started gurgling everywhere and then a very slow and problematic toilet. The vent lines all run in the walls to the roof and hubby doesn't want to tear into them. He added a studor vent under the kitchen sink and it has helped but not 100%. He thought maybe he could run a vent line from the main line in the basement, horizontally and out the side and up the side of the house. All the plumbing items are back to back within 10 ft of each other (picture bathroom w/laundry on one side of the wall and kitchen on the other). I can deal with gurgling but the toilet is driving me bonkers! Thanks!

New drain was run for the sink AND a studor vent is installed under the sink, but what about this toilet... was it repiped new as well or is it still on old plumbing?

Nothing was changed except the kitchen plumbing. Everything else had been updated before we bought the house. The kitchen is under the 1 story part of the house and it shares the outside wall of the 2 story part of the house. Up against the kitchen wall/outside wall is the bathroom, so it would appear they ran the vent lines in that common wall up and out the roof. There is no attic over either part of either the 2 story or the 1 story in that location.

From everything you've said so far I can see no advantage to adding another studor vent further down the line... not how drain/venting works.

In terms of the toilet, I'd have to sugest that your husband snake the toilet using a CLOSET AUGER tool... see if there is something in the toilet trapway. I'd also look at the vent going out the roof... could be partially clogged.

In terms of the kitchen sink I'd check the studor vent that was installed... make sure it opens all the way.

If that doesn't improve things then I have to guess that somewhere in the new pipes you have a clog or obstruction. An obstruction, for example, could be the sink tailpiece sticking too far into a plumbing fitting.

Look at that stuff first and then pop back to discuss more if you want, OK?
