I work for a bus company, so we do a lot of business with hotels. Recently my co-worker booked a hotel room for a friend of hers' who is not an employee of our company. My co-worker used our company's account number, so therefore our company is being charged for the room. In order to pay us back my co-worker wants her friends employer to garnish the amount owed from the friend's paycheck and in turn have the friend's employer pay back our company. Is this bad practice?

I would say she doesn't have a leg to stand on, she would need a garnishee order executed by a court and to get it she would need to prove the debt. She is trying to involve a third party in a transaction which was personal fraud. I would say your company should garnishee her wages if she doesn't pay up immediatelyand dismiss her for dishonesty.
