OK, I hate to admit this... I've got an old Maytag - needs some service, not spinning full speed, not washing well, etc.
Thought I'd do some well-needed service, since it hasn't had any since 1977...
Ordered some parts: Belts, Glide & Spring kit, Damper kit (old one is dried up and coming out from under the housing) and a Brake Assembly.
Now, the question - I remember having used a special wrench to remove the brake, figured I could get by with a strap wrench. I also remember there was some trick to getting them off, but alas, I've forgotten the trick. Also, don't I have to lube something when I replace it? It has been tooooo long since I last did this.
Does anybody "out there" remember how to work on these old machines?
