Hi Amber,
Something is not right here. If the account was closed, you should not be responsible for those bad checks. Talk again with the bank. You stated that you had told them that you had stolen checks and you closed the account. Don't let the bank hoodwink you into paying debts that aren't yours. -- Ace

Ok, if they are stolen checks, you don't pay them

If they were checks you wrote, YOU should know who they are, they would be in your check book wrote down that you had written them a check, and on your last few statements from the bank, when you do your monthly balance of your account like all people do I am sure so they know what their balance is. You would have known two years ago, who had been paid and who had gotten a check that did not clear.

So merely check your own records, ( the bank does not know who you wrote checks to)

Also if and when the checks did not clear, you would have received a notice of the check number and the amount that did not clear.

So you would know which of your checks were still out by your own records and by the notice the bank sent when the checks did not clear.

If you did not keep these records or look at them, I am sorry but you have no one but yourself to blame, and will have to make any of the checks you wrote up plus all the fees.

If these were some of the stolen checks someone else wrote, you report them as such and use that to defend yourself in court against them
