Hi there!

I'm looking for a DIY solution to eliminate this swamp that forms on the footpath outside our house up to a week after rain.

Here is a diagram photo of the situation...

An existing pipeline runs under a tree and has probably been crushed by the roots.

If I run a new pipe around the tree it may not fix the swampy area to the side. Is their a DIY solution that will drain that swamp as well?

I am a novice with regard to drainage solutions, but I am keen to fix it if there is a good solution.

Thanks for your consideration.

In your picture it says the existing runoff pipeline is "blocked". I think that this swampy area you refer to could be your drainage field. To remedy a situation like this I would suggest another drainage line to be installed parallel to the road and maybe even a drainage basin. But as far as DIY is concerned you need to find out where your existing water lines, electrical lines and sewer lines are. Some counties will send out someone to "flag" them for you free of charge. If you just start digging without regard, you may just end up breaking one of these existing lines and causing yourself a HUGE NIGHTMARE.
