In Outlook Express, you can export your account settings, messages and address book.

Then import them on your fresh Windows install.

Another method is to copy the actual files. First you need to enable "show hidden files and folders"

Then browse to this folder location:

C:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{IDSTRING}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

Copy the file located there to a safe location. On your new windows install, startup Outlook express so that it will create the necessary files and folders, then close it.

Then copy over your saved files overwriting the just created files. Now open Outlook Express again and voilą, all your email is back.

Note: email account settings and address book willl not be carried over, so export them first, then import them after.

Thank you for your suggestions. I also found Outlook Express Backup Genie (http://www.amicutilities.com/outlook-express-backup) which does the job right and fast. I will try them out more and then buy one! If you have any suggestions, please let me know... :)
