Let me see, if you don't know anything about the painting business, perhaps you should go to work for someone for a while and learn the business.

1. license, in the US you will need a business license to work in most cities.

2. hire people, well you can not hire anyone and just do the work.
Or you hire as many people as you can keep painting.
When you hire someone you will need a EIN number from the IRS, you will need a state and maybe a local tax number and you will have to withhold federal, state and maybe city taxes from their pay along with Social secuity taxes ( which you pay 1/2 out of your money)
You will also have to have workers comp insurance on your employees if they are hurt on the job.

And many people will want you to have libility insurance in case you do damage to their property.

And of course you need to know what paint is best for what type of material, which is the best way to apply it and things like that.

3. Use preprinted forms to give the customer estimates and use similar forms you can buy at most office supply stores for a contract.
