I just talked with my probation officer who tells me that my urine screens are coming back "borderline diluted." I am not trying to dilute my urine and my urine isn't clear when I pee. I do not drink water at all (I know this is bad but it is the honest truth) I usually only drink coke and monster coffees. What is causing this because I do not want to fail and go back to jail.

The primary method for determining dilution is creatinine level. There is nothing bad about having low creatinine in urine.

I have no idea what "borderline" dilution might mean. Any reading below .20 (20 mg/dL) is generally considered dilute and any reading above, no matter how high, normal. So it isn't a finessed measurement.

Do you have any known medical conditions?

Apparently borderline diluted means the lowest urine concentration you can have before the sample is considered actually diluted and they consider that a positive result. I have no medical conditions that I know of. That being said, I did drink about 24 oz of cranberry juice just because I like it the day before the test. Could this along with a lot of coffee have caused my urine to be less concentrated? I have been racking my brain for hours.

It's not likely that any volume of liquid the day prior would influence your creatinine level to any extent.

You should inquire what they are considering "borderline." If they are measuring creatinine then they can calculate a creatinine ratio. Obviously, you had no drugs in your system.

You might want to Google low creatinine level by your gender. But by all means clarify this issue.

Creatinine as well as specific gravity and color of the sample. I know the color was bright yellow but the other stuff I don't know how it happened. I am freaking out because I don't want to go back to jail and I know that they hear this stuff all the time but I am doing what they ask. I just need to know what not to do. Along with the cranberry juice, I guess my diet is not all that great because I have had trouble with regular food after being in jail for 3 months.

Basically I just want to know if I am drinking too much fluid in general or if the cranberry juice as well as not really eating had something to do with it. And just to clarify, there were definitely no drugs in my system. I have been completely clean since March 20 of this year.

Okay I am reading that Niacin is a reason for diluted urine and the Java Monsters that I drink have 200% of your DV of Niacin in each can. Being that I drink like 4+ of them each day, that is probably the reason.
