I went for a Heart Calcium Score. The automated voice told me to breath and hold. It then moved somewhat. And then it requested me to breath normally. And this happened twice. At the end of the second request to breath normally there was a small pause and then the machine started spinning quite fast. It did not move. I cannot remember how long it did this and I did not have the presence of mind to look at the radiation indicator.

When I asked the kind young man afterwards what was the spinning he said that the radiation dose I had was very small and only occurred when the radiation
Light was on. I was so confused and alarmed by being in the hospital in the first place that I did not follow up with clarifications.

Was it normal to have spinning happen after the final voice request to breath normally? Could I have been accidentally irradiated during this period?

Thank you for your time.

There is some level in the normal scan, this is how they work, And yes they appear to spin,

Next time ask them to tell you all about it before you get in. Or ask them more detailed questions before you leave the room.

It is fine, that is how they work.
