Are you on the lease? Do you pay rent?

Many issues, first where you live, and as Ruby said, are you on the lease, do you pay rent to live there, is your name on any of the utiltiy bills.

Next you said you have no keys, did they change the locks ?

But if you were just a visitor staying with them, yes they can in many places.

And even if they "can't" all you can do is sue them for damages, so you are locked out regardless

The thought I had was that if you aren't on the lease or pay rent, you are still entitled to your possessions.

Whatever the situation, you can call the police and have them escort you there to pick up your things.

But, if you are on the lease or any utilities, it becomes a lot dicier and you do have certain rights and obligations.

Ruby, the police escort things will only be in some areas, in others, the police will say sorry this is a civil issue.

As a police officer any domestic dispute ( that was not violent) was not our concern, and we were out of bounds forcing someone to let a person into their home, since if the other person took something the other said was there, we could be held perosnally responsible.

So if you called our department we would not have helped them, merely told them they needed an attorney to sue them for their things.

Ah, interesting Fr Chuck. Never heard of that but it makes sense.
