I have a similar question. I am a grandparent looking to have my 15 year old granddaughter move in with my husband and myself. We had her previously for six years without legal guardianship but we were never asked to prove it. She has spent the last 18 months going between both of her parents; without either making a safe of stable environment. Can one of the parents sign over temporary guardianship without going to court. Since she was removed from our school system it has raised a red flag for us to re-enroll here; I now must show guardianship. I appreciate any help.

No, any guardianship paperwork has to be approved and signed by a judge, anything else is worthless.
