I had to turn off the water to make a repair. The toilet shut off valva is now stuck in closed position. I've tried using WD40 but no good?

Toilet shut off valve, stop cocks, can stick but you can put a channel lock plyer on the handle and usually get them to turn, Try that before we start talking about a replacement.

Agree with ballenger and just wanted to mention that you want to use two pair of pliers here... one pliers to loosen the handle on and the other pliers to hold the body of the valve... just for safety sake! :)

May I suggest shutting main water line off before trying the pliers just in case something brakes, and you should eventually change that valve. Also turning your valves off and back on every so often keeps them from seizing up over time.

Hi Wop48 and welcome to AMHD!
You present a very thoughtful suggestion and it is very much appreciated!
I just wanted to point out that from experience here, I agree with you at first, but then I remember what happens when someone shuts off a water main and can't turn that back on... a major issue depending on the family circumstances.
Taking your lead here, I would agree that they need to know exactly how to get to the main shutoff if they need too, but I don't want them touching it just yet if they don't need, too... ;)
Thank you for a great addition to the answers above!

Thanks for your help. I've found someone to loan me channel lock pliers and am going to try to fix tomorrow.
I know where my water shutoff valve is and was planning on turning that off. It's no big deal and family is me!
Thanks again.
