My new Kohler Alteo bathroom faucet is a WaterSense faucet, which means a max flow rate of 1.5 gpm. I want to increase this. The faucet has a plastic piece permanently attached to the inside of the faucet, into which an aerator screws.
Is it possible to drill a (bigger) hole in the center of the back of that plastic piece to increase the water flow without damaging the faucet?

Yup! It is certainly possible to drill the unit... works most times. With that being said, however, I have also drilled a few of these that have actually decreased the pressure, so it really is a gamble.

Here, some faucet models are being supplied with filtering systems that actually give the illusion of increased flow... in situations of low volume to begin with, drilling these is not good!

Anyway, I'm sure that wasn't all too helpful, but the fact is that drilling usually works in high volume/pressure conditions... poor volume/pressure and things may get worse!
