Someone has been posting false information about me and Yahoo. They caused my Yahoo account to be suspended by pretending to be me. They probably said they forgot password and couldn't log on in order to gain access to my account. They probably got my real name from Ebay I useto use my Yahoo address with Ebay. That's changed. How do I stop someone posting false information about me about Yahoo? Note I haven't been into my Yahoo account since 2005 I was in the hospital. I recently updated the information and put up my picture. I can't do anything with it though because someone is pretending to be me. I googled my name and it put up on Mylife I didn't join that! So it's proof someone is using my name. I really don't know what to do about it! Also can I get my Yahoo account unsuspended somehow?

If you wasn't into your Yahoo account since 2005... then its not your account any more... 30 days of inactivity (might be a little more in reality) means you surrender it... and after 6 moths its open for whoever wants it.
So therefore you have made several very wrong assumptions. That Yahoo account was never yours.. Yahoo owns it... you only got to use it for a brief while... that ended over 7 years ago when you walked away from it.
Same thing.. you aren't the only person that has your name, or is entitled to have or use it... so you aren't entitled exclusive use to it under any existing law.

You should be addressing this with Yahoo - I'm confused about what the advantage of posing as you would be to anyone unless that person is a life-long enemy, out for revenge.
Are you sure it's not just someone with the same name?

My name isn't common name and I didn't walk away from Yahoo. I didn't have access to computer while in hospital

Read some of the comments they made... they haven't been into that Yahoo account SINCE 2005... that means they abandoned it 7 years ago... where did they think they owned it for life? Its not theirs any more... So much about this post makes no sense at all... they act like nobody on the planet earth has the same name as them... highly unlikely to start with... and that they have some legal right to exclusive use of a name that others have. Which they don't.

How was they using Ebay with an email account that went inactive 7 years ago? All correspondence goes to that email...
Sounds to me like someone trying to figure out how to hack into someone else's account to me.

No, I didn't see the time frame but I do now. (This must have been a lengthy hospitalization.)

YOU either Did use that account since 2005 or you didn't which is it... if you didn't use it the last 7 years you DID walk away from it. Where did you get the idea it was yours for life even if you didn't use it? Walk away from it 2 months (terms of service says 30 days) and it goes inactive... that means you walked away from it...
Being locked up in a loony bin doesn't give you special rights (what other hospital would anyone be in for 7 years?)... unless of course you've been paying for the higher level service all that time (then I'd like to know how you was doing it) and you didn't have the free account which WILL be surrendered by non-use which is called walking away from it.
I still feel like we have someone that's trying to find out how to steal someone else's account via social engineering.
The story makes little sense. Actually it makes no sense.

If you didn't access it it's the same as walking away from it. Once your account is inactive, it's no longer yours. In fact, it never really was.
I also don't have a common name, but when I Google it there are a lot of people with that same uncommon name. So don't assume you're the only one.
Why are you not contacting Yahoo about this?

Why are you not contacting Yahoo about this?I bet they did and were told to take a hike. Particularity after ranting about how they own exclusive rights to their name on Yahoos own domain that THEY own in its entirety.
There is so much wrong with their story that I can't possibly believe they had this account ever... they appear upset that someone else got it first.
Call it the hairs on my neck... call it intuition... heck call it a gut feeling... call it knowing how this stuff works having been an actual internet and email user for the last 30 years before most people knew it existed.

I suspect this person is trying to hack someone else's account OR has been caught doing just that - or the weekend pass has been extended because of the holiday.
