She started social security benefits (not ssi) when her father went on ss
Back in 1997.
I save every receipt and paperwork.

She turned 18 in September and a overpayment was waived when she turned 18 proving she had no income of her own and that me and my hubby were supporting her.

She stopped getting ss in August

So I was wondering when her ss receipts can be tossed out?

Can it be now or do we have to hold on to them for years?

I don't know about the states but in Canada it is adviseable to keep any kind of personal receipts or household receipts filed for six years, then they can be tossed.
