Typically that refers to a computer that you are controlling/using from another location.

Normally this is achieved over a local area network or the internet. You can use the PC with some diminished functionality, but it allows access to documents and applications on that PC.

There are many different applications out there that enable similar functionality.

I think the OP was looking for an answer that covers all eventualities... for his/her homework. Is Google so hard to use?

Please explain what, exactly, you want to do.

I see now that "thin client (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thin_client)" is something I just did not know about.

I have no clue, however, what you mean by "hardlessing". That's not a word.

As for picking between the options you named, I am sorry to say that I cannot help. I, personally, am not familiar with any of them.

I do think, though, that now that your question has been clarified quite a bit from your original question, others knowledgeable in the area may be able to help.

It certainly depends on the network OS you are running and what components are installed. You can read this: Thin client, Terminal Services, Remote Desktop (http://www.rhebus.com/techinfo/termserv.htm)
Or here The Citrix Alternative - PowerTerm WebConnect RemoteView from Ericom (http://www.ericom.com/wcrdp.asp)
