My father was diagnosed with heart disease and diabetes 15 years ago. His health has been generally "fair" until this year. He started in March with gangrene in the toes and a large sore on the front of his ankle, a few weeks later they put a stent in his leg that only complicated issues and he ended up with a large sore on the back of his calf that did not get better or worse. They did a bypass around the wound about 4-6 weeks ago.
Yesterday my father went to the ER for severe vomiting. His leg was red and swollen to "double the size" according to my mother and he was in a lot of pain. Today he is vomiting blood and his urine is very red. The nurses have been unable to control the vomiting for at least several hours now.
I live 2 hours away. My mother will only say he is very sick and this is serious but not to worry myself he wouldn't know I was there if I came to town but I would like to be near by in the case that I need to be whether I am able to visit with him or not. Please tell me, how serious is this? Thank you.
