I was driving and started to overheat. Never got in the red. I pulled over. Antifreeze low. Was odd because I don't drive very often. I always check the antifreeze. The truck cooled. I added some 50/50 antifreeze. Everything OK.
I drove again. Overheated again. Antifreeze low again. Checked the oil. Very thin.

Took it in. On the way, it began knocking. Worried. Mechanic says she is done.
Any suggestions. Love this old truck. Seems way to low of miles to be done.
I was hoping it wasn't the engine rods etc...

Unfortunately for these old truck, and even when they were a lot newer, the timing chain would rub through the timing cover to expose a water jacket. Then the coolant level would drop and mix with the oil.
Toyota crankshaft bearings do not like coolant in the oil!! As you found out.
It's an easy rebuild if you choose the route.

I would rebuild it--fun project!
