I am fertile now but won't ovulate for another two or three days. My husband and I made love yesterday and he did not use ANY form of birth control. With no egg present the sperm die within hours right?

No... they remain vable for way more than a few hours...

How do you know when you actually ovulate.. Basal temp chart?

I have an app. I don't go by it 109% but it gives ma a good idea of when I have ovulated and if I've ovulated that means either no sex or use birth control measures. We did not use any measures yesterday and I have not yet ovulated according to the app. I do not see how I can get pregnant if I'm fertile but have no egg present yet.

You can get pregnant even when you have your period. That's why canny women use several methods of birth control.

You have to have an EGG and sperm. I HAVE NOT ovulated yet. I've herald sperm can still be viable for 3 days...

Oh I know. That's why I'm stressing so bad. I'm going on an approximate calculated guess here. I have that app on my phone. As previously stated ball park idea of when fertile and ovulating...

That app is just as accurate as the app that guarantees you winning lottery numbers, or the one the predicts your future.
The only way YOU can possibly know yourself (outside of a medical office) is by taking properly taking and keeping a Basal temperature chart in a constant manner taken at the required times each day.

As Wondergirl rightfully stated... Theory and reality rarely go hand in hand.

I agree but. I do not have the time or proper organization to monitor my temp daily. That's why I go closely by what the apostle say. Seeing as they are all so close to the same answers I just average them together to get ball park idea... still my question remains unanswered. Can u get pregnant a couple of days before u ovulate? I did not ask anything about tracking fertility or the apps that claim to do so. Thanks to everyone who takes their valuable time to reply to my post.

I did answer your question. You can get pregnant any time during your cycle, even during your period.

There has to be an egg present. Your cycle sheds the egg. You can only get pregnant a couple of select days out of the month.. I know this much. I don't think anyone quite understands my question. But thanks for your input though...

This so called apostle has absolutely NO way to know when you ovulate... you can flip a coin and it will be more accurate.

And you can average all the garbage information you want... you still get garbage for an answer.

And your answer HAS been answered, you can get pregnant at any time because you don't know when you actually ovulate because no apostle or app knows this, nor can they ever possibly know this... because it is very difficult to determine even doing a basal Temprature chart, the signs are that tiny when it happens. SO unless you did this... even you do not know when you ovulate because there are not symptoms you would feel.

That means... if you DON'T want to get pregnant... always use protection...

If you DO, its still the luck of the draw because it can happen anytime... or maybe even not at all... since nobody is really concerned with taking this serious... you don't know when you really ovulate, and nobody knows if both of you are fertile and don't have issues. This is all a very precise thing... everything has to happen just right for conception to happen... then a lot of other things have to go right the next 9 months or still no baby.

Some people do everything right... and it doesn't happen... others do nothing right and it still does.

That's the biology textbook explanation of how it works. In real life, the human body doesn't work that way.

I get the impression they don't really care... since now some mythical Apostle ( not an app for their Iphone) can throw his chicken guts on the wall and determine when a person ovulates and the babies sex and future too.

Can u get pregnant a couple of days before u ovulate? Actually, that's the BEST time to get pregnant. You see, the sperm can live in the woman's body for 3-5 days just waiting for the egg to be released from the ovary.

In the end, you can get pregnant any time you have sex. There is no app that is accurate enough to prevent this. Unless you have a camera in your ovary, you really have no clue as to exactly when you ovulate.

If you are relying solely on a phone "app" to prevent pregnancy, prepare to be a mommy.

Ok.. thank YOU for clearing that one up... man if you knew what was going through my head after I read that... actually... better you didn't know...

I have zero faith in a program that predicts the unpredictible... but some religious figure telling you is even worse... (ergo the chicken guts on the wall comment)

Definitely brings this discussion back to earth.

Even if you don't want to take most of our words on this... At least listen to J_9 This is her field as a Registered Nurse. Don't think we have anyone here as a member that's a greater expert in that topic than her.

The site doesn't have an auto-correct feature, and none of the site editors changed anything, to my knowledge.
