In 1974 I was a victim of an attempted rape by a superier officer.I was accused of lying about this rape, thrown in a navy brig, stripped of all my rank, and court martialed. Found to be truthful I was found not guilty.the officer was immediately discharged as was the capton of the base. I was given a transfer to a base of my choice to finish my enlistment. The rest of my life has been a wreck. I am now 4 years sober and trying to do the impossible, putting my life back together. 40 years later.what are my options.

Yes, Counceling, your record since you were found not guilty should not be showing up.

If that is the issue, you hire a private attorney who does military law and sue to have it removed and/or corrected

After almost 40 years, I'm fairly certain that it's way too late for that.

It is not going to happen, the Statue of Limitation has long ago passed plus

You did not have your rank and position taken away, he was found guilty, you were given the assignment of your choice, so it appears you made a choice to leave the service.
Did they kick you out, or did you leave as your own choice.

Next you could have sued the man who raped you for damages at the time.
And while it is a bad thing that happened, it was 40 years ago, you can not blame all the choices you made over 40 years on that event. If you choose not to get counseling and choose to drink instead it was a personal life choice.

So time to after 40 years take personal responisibility for your life, stop looking to blame others and move on with it.
