I have a Frigidaire side by side model #FRS24WRAD3 bought 1993. The freezer is working fine except the ice maker is not working and the refrigerator is not cooling. I did notice ice build up in freezer on back panel and on coils. I used a hair dryer to remove ice but fridge still not working. Any suggestions.

Try first cleaning out coils under the unit by unplugging it and removing both front kick-plate and rear cover. Clean coils with spray cleaner and sprayer on water hose. That should wash out coils well. Put all of that back, make sure you cleaned condensate pan under unit which slides out front. Then let it thaw completely in freezer. Remove cover to freezer coils and check defrost heater at bottom. Some you can see if they are burned in two and others you need to check with an ohm meter. If burned in two replace the heater and defrost terminator which is the round t-stat wired to the heater and clipped onto side of coils. Once that is all in order find the defrost timer which is either under the refrigerator at front with a one-way plastic screw or by thermostat inside. Plug in refrigerator and once it is running turn defrost timer until it clicks and refrigerator and freezer fan turns off. Let it sit and see if it comes back on after 20 minutes or so. If it does not then replace. Let it run a few days and you should see no more frost on freezer and it should cool. Alternatively, just replace those three parts since it's so old, because it is time to replace them anyway.
