Moved into a new house (built 2008) and our basement full-bath toilet gets daily use. It's connected to a sump pump, which up until this past week would kick on immideately with each flush .
It started 4 days ago, the toilet will back up (no overflow) and have an impossible time draining. The sump has not been kicking on as it use to, but still does but minutes later after the toilet has been flushed. When the toilet is flushed, I can hear gurguling from the bathtub or sink. I'm a new home owner with very little knowledge in plumbing. I am guessing there is a blocked pipe somewhere leading to the sump. Buddy of mine said to snake it.
Also, I thought that the ejection punp drains into the sewer out-take but my buddy says it usually goes out to a drain field. That might be the 2" pvc pipe leading out of the house at basement level and going out into the yard, I don't know though. Any suggestions and or help before calling a plumber would be appreciated.
