In my grade 10 year I became good friends with this girl cheryl I wanted it to be more than that and assumed she felt the same way but I never did ask her out because I thought it would ruin our friendship. In the summer before grade 11 this out of town girl kacie who was going to be going to our school next year asked me out I said yes and during that time her and Cheryl became good friends but for some reason me and Cheryl weren't very close anymore partly because kacie didn't like it. Me and kacie dated for 7 months she broke up with me and after that Cheryl only became closer to her and further from me. In my grade 12 year I tried to become friends with Cheryl again but it's a slow process I asked her to be my grad escort and she is excited about that but we still aren't as good of friends as we were in grade 10 because of kacie. I really like Cheryl and want to ask her out but I'm wondering if I should and how?or If I should just be friends but how then can I ask her to be a closer friend like we were in grade 10? Thank

Seems to me like she liked you too, it's kinds of apparent in her distant behavior after you dating Kacie. Now, there is something you need to realize. If you ask her out, you are going to hinder your friendship with her, and if you date and it doesn't work out. You've lost her forever. However, you can't have a healthy friendship if you like her a lot.

Some things to think about, but the next move is up to you.

Well I don't really want to date her I just want to be there for her. How can I tell her that I want to be food friends like we used to our work towards that?

Just tell her. That's it that's all.
