I got caught with unpaid item worth $4.99. LP held me in their office and police was called.

When police came in, she told me if I know I was under arrest.  And then , when she knew that was my first time, she did not charge me. She told me," you are lucky. You will not be charged. But I will put it on our system to say that you got caught. So, next time you will be charged."

Now, my problem is I need to do a police vulnerable sector check. Will this show up?

In the future, when I apply for a job. Employers are going to do some police checks. Will this show up on any checks?

Do I have an arrest record?
Will arrest record show up?

I really need your help!

I am in Toronto ontario Canada.

You were not arrested, they did not have you go in for photo and prints and you were not required to appear in court and pay a fine.

This is called scaring the poor person to teach them a lesson at the store.

Thanks for your reply!

I hope you are right. But my concern is the police actually said," do you know if you are under arrest?". In the end , police told me she would put on their system say that I got caught.

Got caught as the same as arrest?

I am extremely worried about those checks. $4.99 is going to destroy my future. How stupid I am!!

No, put in the system is not the same as arrest.

Arrest merely means you were put into custody, the loss prevention people detained you and keep you from leaving, that is an "arrest" you lost your freedom temp and was keep from going if you wanted to.

That is a legal definition of the word, as commonly used it means being charged, arrested and charged are two different things.

Next there is no "record" unless you were convicted, a criminal history shows the crimes you were convicted of, not arrested for.
