Hi guys I'm having a problem with my simplicity mower with a vanguard engine and hope I can get a little help.I 'll start my letting you know that at the start of the year I had a new carb, starter, battery and full tune up done.it was running great for about a month.then I started having problems with it starting.after finding this web site I found out the engine was vapor locked and got that worked out but now having other problems

A few weeks ago it started right up.I let it warm up but as soon as I turned on the blades it died.after trying to get started again for a for a few minutes it done the same thing.was running good but as soon as I turned the blades on it died but this time wouldn't start again.after reading on the forum I unhooked the wire I think you call the dead man safety on the side of the engine going to the coils.it started right up.put the wire on it would die.checked for any loose wires under seat and other areas found nothing wrong.so I mowed my yard.it ran great.

For a week I looked everything over it would start every time with the wire off.so a week later I decide to mow my yard again with the wire off.I know not very safe but the yard was looking bad.it started right up mowed for about 4 minutes and then it acted like it was running out of gas.it was acting like it was trying to keep running but finally died.I went ahead a got more gas but when I started putting gas in it.it still had a lot in the tank.I topped it up but now I'm getting nothing at all.it's turns over but acts like it's getting no gas or spark.

Any help would be great.this thing is driving me crazy.I know I was probably crazy spending 700.00 on it getting the work done at the dealership.lol I know I got took just a little now.but it's always done a great job and wanted to keep it around...

Tks

Hi,
You have either a shorted wire or a bad safety switch. The three switches are Seat, Clutch/brake and PTO.
Peace,
Clarke
