I have an old cast iron drain plug I was trying to remove. When I attached a wrench to the square to twist it off it broke off. The plug is still sealed and I am not really sure on how to get it off. I am wondering if I hit it in the center several times I can break it up or will the surrounding pipe break to.

Cut a cross across the hole in the plug using a sawzall with a bimetal blade and then cave the plug in... should come out pretty easily after that.
Come close to the threads of the cast iron with your cuts, but do not cut into them... ;)

Thanks a lot. I will do it shouldn't be to hard. After pulling a spoon from the toilet and 16 q tips from the tub, and explaining to people that toilets are not disposals. I did look at it a little more and realized its brass but shouldn't change things. People don't care too much when its not theirs.
