In the state of Indiana can a business demand a post dated check? Is this illegal for the business to ask this?

Hello a:
Sure. All it is, is a promise to pay with a penalty if you don't.

Demand a post-dated check instead of what? Not doing business with you? Sure.
Banks are not bound to refuse a post dated check before the date, by the way. It's a matter of trust with the business to which you wrote the check.
